What you own
What you owe
The net worth formula
Net worth = Total assets − Total liabilities
Your net worth (sometimes written as net wealth) is what remains after every debt is subtracted from every asset. A negative result is common and only means your liabilities currently exceed your assets.
One figure, a few names
Whether you call it a net worth estimator, net wealth, or “calculate your net worth,” the figure is the same: what you own today, minus what you owe. This page is that estimator. If you want the argument for repeating it, read why we track net worth, not cash flow.
What counts as an asset
Anything you own that has value: cash and savings, brokerage and retirement accounts, real estate, vehicles, crypto, private equity, receivables. Use current market values, not purchase prices.
What counts as a liability
Everything you owe: mortgages, car loans, student loans, credit card balances, personal loans, unpaid taxes. Use outstanding balances, not original loan amounts.
How multi-currency works
Each row can use its own currency. Every non-base amount is converted with the exchange rate shown in the rates panel, and you can override any rate with your bank's quote before it is applied.
Net worth vs liquid net worth
This calculator totals everything you own. If you want the stricter figure that only counts assets you can sell within days (cash, stocks, funds) while excluding property and vehicles, drop the illiquid rows and read the remaining asset total.
Frequently Asked Questions
Add up the current value of everything you own (assets), add up everything you owe (liabilities), then subtract: net worth = total assets − total liabilities. The calculator above does the arithmetic for you and converts every currency into one base currency.
Assets: cash, savings, brokerage and retirement accounts, real estate at market value, vehicles, crypto, and any other holdings. Liabilities: mortgage balance, loans, credit card debt, and other outstanding debts. Use today's values, not what you originally paid.
Yes. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded: no account, no server storage, no tracking of your figures. Your entries are kept only in this browser (localStorage) so the page remembers them next visit, and Reset wipes them instantly. The one network call this page can make fetches anonymous exchange rates, currency codes only.
Yes, that is the point of this calculator. Every row can use a different currency, and everything is summed in one of 15 base currencies (USD, EUR, CNY, JPY, GBP, HKD, AUD, CAD, SGD, CHF, KRW, TWD, NZD, SEK, NOK). You can edit any exchange rate to match your own quote.
A negative net worth means your debts currently exceed your assets. It is common early in a career or right after a home purchase, and it is a starting point, not a verdict. What matters for wealth building is the trend, which is exactly what tracking the same calculation monthly shows you.
A calculator answers one question once. A tracker like Rialzo stores each month's snapshot, converts it with locked exchange rates, and draws your net worth curve over years, annotated with life events. Once your numbers look good up there, the Download button is one scroll away.
